I like to celebrate my birthday two weeks before and two weeks after, so since it was on the 7th there’s still time left for one more celebration!

First though, I want to repeat what I’ve been saying all along: that it’s so very important – actually, crucial would be more accurate – to keep your eye on the picture, feeling and idea of the life you want to live rather than being caught up in in the story, drama, fear and whatever seems to be going on all around you.

People have been sucked into the concept of ‘economic crisis.’ Do you know that unless the brain is ‘perturbated’ – which essentially means stirred up or shaken up out of its ordinary path – it keeps going in that ordinary path?

So if it keeps on that path without shake-up, how can it learn anything new, or make new neural pathways that might just benefit you more than the ones in there now?

As an artist, I experience that shake-up quite often. In order to create one thing, I must destroy another: to paint, I must destroy the whiteness of the paper or canvas. To carve, I must destroy the original shape of the stone.

Imagine how it would be if I got myself into a snit about ruining the canvas – I’d never make the painting! Pretty silly. Or how about, Oh no! It’s a crisis! The shape of the stone is changing! Well, yes, it does do that as I complete each sculpture!

So when you think of the ‘crisis,’ think of it as a world-wide invisible sculpture comprised of a host of people who have agreed to do something in one particular way. That way is disintegrating, so things are being shaken up and soon something new will emerge.

Why I believe with all my heart that it’s so crucial to keep our minds, heart and actions aligned with the life you *want* to live is that if you don’t, and if I don’t, and millions of others don’t, we’re going to just more of the same-old, same-old fear-driven, disenfranchising BS.

Do you really want that? I don’t. Things are being shaken up, more shaking probably to come, and the real question is this: what are we going to create that is better? For everyone?

So when you speak of ‘economic crisis,’ you know that your brain is stuck in the idea of crisis. Please, get unstuck.

What if you were to take another view of what’s happening?

What if you were to view this as a time to develop some new pathways in your brain by sticking to your view of what you want to create, rather than the ‘reality’ all around you?

Here’s an example: A friend called me yesterday who had been really depressed because she had lost her house. She was all excited because she found a place that had been for sale – but was now available for rent because the owner couldn’t sell it – and she could afford the rent. Good deal all around.

Here’s what Charle Darwin says (and this is another quote from Paul and Layne Cutright‘s newsletter): “The highest possible stage in moral culture is when we recognize that we ought to control our thoughts.”

If you can slowly but steadily, every day, every day rein in your thoughts and allow them to continually flow to the ideas, images, sounds and feelings you would prefer over what seems to be going on, in time you’ll have won a major victory – you’ll have created your life the way YOU want it to b. Discover how to do that HERE!
